Good news for people who are eagerly waiting for final release of Microsoft Office suite's upcoming version 2013 which was codenamed Office 15.
Microsoft just announced that they have released Office 2013 to manufacturing which means the development and testing of Office 2013 is complete now and its ready to release to public.
Office 2013 comes with many exciting features such as cloud integration, Click-to-Run which is a streaming technology that lets you begin to use Office applications before installation is complete. Its also optimized for touch screens. Microsoft has tried its best to use a minimal Windows 8 style Metro UI in Office 2013 applications to provide a refreshing feeling.
Microsoft is planning to make Office 2013 available to public in first quarter of 2013 (most probably in end of January or first week of February 2013). Interesting thing is that if you purchase Office 2010 after October 19, 2012, you'll get Office 2013 absolutely free whenever it becomes available to public.
TechNet and MSDN subscribers will be able to download Office 2013 RTM in middle of next month i.e.November, 2012.
Same thing applies to Volume Licensing customers with Software Assurance. They will be able to download Office 2013 RTM applications as well as other Office products including SharePoint 2013, Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 through the Volume Licensing Service Center by mid-November.
Also note that the upcoming Windows RT devices will also contain a preview version of Office 2013 RTM. You'll be able to purchase them beginning with the Windows 8 launch on October 26, 2012 as mentioned here.
